This past weekend I had the pleasure of partnering with Mall of America for a little fall getaway. With all of the fun trends out there this season I was thrilled to have the opportunity to spend the weekend at the Radison Blu – just steps away from MOA. Being so close made it easy to hunt down the latest styles… and drop some bags off mid-day too!
Prints, faux leather, blazers and monochrome looks are having a moment this year and I am here for it. Normally I tend to stick to versatile neutrals but this season I’ve stepped out and brought in some more vibrant hues (hello emerald green) and bold prints into my wardrobe – starting with this houndstooth shacket.

As you’ll discover in this post, I may be slightly obsessed with houndstooth. I swear every time I saw this print while I was shopping at MOA I was immediately drawn to it, no matter what the item was. Up until I found this shacket, I was unsure as to whether or not this trend was for me as I’d yet to find one that really suited my style. But this particular shacket is a game-changer. Not only do I love the print, but the fit is also on point. It runs TTS if you’re looking for a slightly oversized fit. If you want a really oversized look, size up and for a more fitted look, size down. When styling this look I opted for a black leather mini skirt and black boots to tie in a bit of contrast, however I’d also style this shacket over a cream mini dress with either tan or cream boots and a nude/cognac handbag for a more neutral look.

Back to my obsession with houndstooth… here’s another look with a pop of this fun print. If you’re not willing to fully commit to making a statement with prints, accessories are a great way to bring in a trend without going overboard. Ever since I had my career in handbag buying, I’ve been a little handbag crazy. While I love a good designer bag that will hold its value over the years, I’m also a sucker for trendy bags, such as this houndstooth shoulder bag, that keep you right with the trends without breaking the bank.

The final look I want to share with you from my MOA finds is this cozy outfit that’s ready to join you on your next coffee date. I saw this sweater right as I walked into the store and knew from the moment I picked it up that it was making its way into my wardrobe. It is soooo cozy and I love the multi-colored stitch detail. While I kept things simple with this look by styling the sweater with distressed jeans and neutral accessories, another way I would style this sweater would be with a cream skirt and cream knee high boots. The hat you see in this look was another piece I picked up at MOA – I loved the fit and neutral hues of it. If you ask me, fall is the perfect time to accessorize with wide brim hats as they somehow always seem to pull a look together.
There truly is no season I love to style more than fall – I just wish it lasted longer here in MN! I don’t know about you but until it snows I am holding off on my winter jacket and making the most of the precious time we have to show off stylish fall layers. On that note, that’s all I’ve got! Which fall look was your favorite? Let me know in the comments!
A huge thank you to Mall of America & Radison Blue for hosting me for the weekend and sponsoring the featured pieces in this post. As always, all thoughts & opinions are my own.
