Oh fall, how I love you. Between all of the pumpkin flavored things, fall activities and new trends, there is so much that makes this season so great. In today’s post I wanted to breakdown my favorite fall pieces that I consider to be wardrobe staples and what better category to kick things off with than boots and booties.
Boots & Booties – If you have a shoe fetish (like me) it’s likely that Fall is your favorite shoe season. I mean c’mon… can you really have to many pairs of booties/boots? I think not! While a classic black bootie is a must, this season I am loving white, croc and stud detailed styles. Over the knee boots and a slouchy mid-calf boots are also on my list of favorites this season as they look amazing styled with dresses and skirts.

Plaid Jackets – Having grown up in North Dakota, I’m certain that one can never have too many jackets. Especially when they’re so stinkin’ cute like these plaid styles! just because the weather is cool, doesn’t mean you have to step away from style. Keep warm (and stylish) in a fun jacket this season. These are currently some of my faves:

Chunky Knit Sweaters – There’s just something about slipping into a cozy knit sweater that truly makes it feel like fall. Every year I get so excited to pull out my favorite sweaters and style them with everything from jeans and skirts to layering with dresses. One of my current favorite ways of styling a chunky knit sweater is pairing one with a midi skirt and booties (or sneakers). It’s an easy way to stay comfortable but feel a little more dressed up than your average sweater and jeans combo – which I still love, too!

Felt hats – If you’re looking for an easy way to add a little something extra to your favorite Fall looks, perhaps a felt hat is just what you need. I love styling a large brim felt hat with cozy sweaters and jeans or leather jackets and dresses. It is my go-to accessory, especially when taking photos as they are the perfect prop 🙂

Updated handbags – There is a reason fashion magazines have a huge September issue… they have to fit in all the exciting fall trends! In case you missed it, I wrote a blog post on the Top 5 Handbag Trends for this fall season. Between woven fabrications, updated silhouettes and luxe details, the handbag selection is amazing this season… treat yourself to a new bag to really elevate your fabulous fall looks!

Mid wash denim – There’s no doubt that a good pair of denim is a wardrobe staple, no matter the season. However come fall, I love bringing out my tried-and-true denim along with investing in 1-2 new pairs that give me that feel-good feeling of strutting the perfect jeans. While it’s good to have a variety of washes, I really love a good mid-wash jean for fall. Below are some styles I’m eyeing!

Leather (Jackets, pants, skirts, dresses) – Don’t let my Instagram feed fool you… I am a sucker for all things leather! Jackets, dresses, pants, skirts – you name it, I own it – in leather, of course! In my opinion, a leather jacket is another wardrobe staple. Easily dressed up or down, a leather jacket is perfect for fall weather as it adds just the right dose of warmth while keeping you stylish and sleek. Leather pants/skirts are another favorite for fall. Pair these items with a chunky knit sweater and booties for an edgy look.

Suede (jackets, skirts, dresses) – Last but not least, suede is another fabrication that speaks to fall. Suede jackets are a great investment piece as they carry over well year after year. BLANK NYC is probably my favorite brand for suede jackets and skirts as the quality and colorations are 100% spot on. Style a suede jacket over a knit midi dress and throw on a pair of snakeskin booties for a cute and casual date night look or go even more casual by styling a suede jacket with a graphic tee, jeans and sneakers. Let’s not forget suede skirts – pair a suede skirt with a cozy sweater and over the knee boots for the perfect fall style or get a little edgy and style a suede skirt with a fitted top, leather jacket and booties.

What gets you most excited about fall? Is it the clothes, activities or treats? Let me know in the comments of this post!
