The moment you can break out your florals without hesitation is the moment spring has (just about) sprung. I’m a sucker for florals and dainty prints, so spring may just be my favorite season to style! One of the things I’ve learned to love about Philly is the seasons. Compared to back home in ND/MN, where we really only see winter & summer (so it seems), we actually get to enjoy all four seasons here in Philly. And spring out east? It is beautiful! Especially with all of the cherry blossoms beginning to bloom, I love it. But besides the weather update, let’s dive into this look!
Lately I’ve gotten to the point where I am totally bored with my wardrobe so I’ve been trying out new ways of styling tried and true pieces that I already love. For this look I stepped away from theย basics and decided to spice up this floral top by mixing and matching with another fun print – polka dots. Polka dots are almost a neutral at this point so they’re a good place to start when going about mixing prints. I would say there really is no right or wrong way to go about combining prints, but keeping them somewhat close in contrast is probably best. For example, this top has a black base and white pants go with everything – so the black polka dots on the pants tie back to the shirt and the floral print just adds that pop of color without being too much. If the polka dots on these pants were purple or blue, I would probably stray away from this combo. But who says you can’t make your own rules!? What are your thoughts on mixing prints – is this a fashion do or don’t for you? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
