It’s wine Wednesday (cheers!) and somewhere over the course of the weekend, Jason and I realized that we’re already halfway through summer – how!? Since the season has been flying by, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on some of our favorite summer memories together thus far and dream about what’s yet to come. I came up with a set of questions, answered them myself, and then asked the same questions to Jason to see how much our answers varied. So, over summer sips with Winc, we got to chatting, and here’s what we’ve got to say…!
Question: What is your idea of the perfect summer date?
Jozy: The perfect summer date, in my mind, would start without technology. It’s so hard to unplug! Especially having a blog that requires you to be on your phone constantly… I think the perfect date would be packing up a picnic, heading out on a boat, and spending the afternoon sipping on drinks, lounging on a floatie, and enjoying the warm summer weather we crave throughout the winter.
Jason: I would say going out to dinner at one of our favorite spots, and then going for a walk around the city and finishing off the night with some ice cream (probably Izzy’s!).
Q: What has been your favorite memory together been to far?
Jozy: Hmm… I’d have to say our weekends up at the cabin! Between visiting my lake place in Detroit Lakes and fishing up at your cabin, it’s so nice to get out of the city and enjoy time with our families together in a care-free environment.
Jason: I’ve loved going to weddings together this summer (aka – tearing up the dance floor and enjoying the open bars – haha) and spending weekends up at the cabin.
Q: What is your favorite summer beverage?
Jozy: Frosé! Jason’s mom totally got me hooked on this. I’ve had it once, but am forever hooked! So simple + so refreshing.
Jason: Coors Light for sure, or a Bloody Mary.
Q: What is your favorite summer meal?
Jozy: You can’t beat a fresh fruit salad in the summer. I think my favorite is a candied pecan strawberry salad with spinach and strawberry vinaigrette… top it off with coconut shrimp for the win!
Jason: Mmm, a fricken fat steak, potatoes and corn… on the cob.
Q: What is the best restaurant you’ve been to together this summer?
Jozy: We actually haven’t gone out too many times, but I would have to say that it is a toss-up between Kincaid’s (check out our experience here) or Yard House at the very beginning of summer.
Jason: Where have we even been? Haha, just kidding. Probably the first fancy place we went (he means Kincaid’s) – that was really good.
Q: What is your favorite summer-time activity to do together?
Jozy: We haven’t actually done this, but I really want to visit the Farmer’s Market or a beer fest together! But one thing we have done that I really love it going out on the jetski together. It’s so fun trying to whip each other off!
Jason: Going jet-skiing together, it’s fun to hear Jozy laugh and go WOOOO!!!
Q: If you could spend the rest of the summer together anywhere, where would it be?
Jozy: We’re dreaming here, but if we could spend the rest of our summer on the beaches of Hawaii or in the small fisherman towns of the Amalfi Coast (check out my Amalfi Coast guide here) I would be in heaven.
Jason: Jamaica – I know Jozy would love it and it is beautiful.
Q: What are you looking forward to in August?
Jozy: August is a crazy busy month, but I am looking forward to taking advantage of the final school-free month and hopefully squeezing in a few more date-nights and weekends up at the lake. (Also my upcoming girls trip to Vegas for my bestie’s 21st!)
Jason: I am looking forward to a Canadian fishing trip with the guys and trying to find Jozy a birthday gift (send recommendations my way at 763… haha).
Q: What are you going to miss most about summer?
Jozy: I am definitely going to miss being able to get out of the city every weekend to spend time with my family and friends up at the cabin. If you can’t tell, it’s one of my favorite places to escape to in the summer!
Jason: Fishing every weekend and going to the cabin with family and friends. I love it up there.
Part of me was surprised that our answers were so similar but to be completely honest, it wasn’t thaaaat big of a surprise! Jason and I have had such a fun summer together and I can’t wait to continue the fun in my favorite season of all… fall!
