A couple of weeks ago I had the exciting opportunity to attend my very first D.I.Y event with Gathered Goods, a creative crafting and shopping space in Excelsior, MN. I had heard of the boutique a number of times through social outlets and word of mouth, but had yet to make the trip out to Lake Minnetonka to visit their adorable shop. So, as my Wednesday night rolled around, I hopped in my car, cranked some summer tunes, and made my way out to Excelsior, admiring the winding lakeside roads which lead right up to their shop.
Gathered Goods hosts different crafting + creative events throughout the month, with their Uplift a box being their most popular. Having been my first class, I figured the Uplift a Box class would be a good place to start. (You can check out their calendar of events here.)
Right away, I was amazed by the small community of women who gathered to create these boxes for such an important cause. The Uplift a Box was started right here in Minnesota as a way to provide women who have been sexually abused or assaulted with a positive light by donating the boxes created in this class to the women who need them most. Talk about an eye opening and heart felt experience.
Each month, the contents of the Box are changed, but this time around, we painted a wooden pallet, beaded a stunning bracelet, and filled a cute little pouch with feminine products. It was honestly such an incredible experience to be surrounded by other women who were so loving and passionate about the cause. After creating our boxes, we ended our evening with a hand-in-hand prayer sending off the boxes with all our love and best wishes.
However, the evening couldn’t quite end without a little bit of shopping, too. Gathered Goods has such a cute variety of clothing from the beachy boho to the classically chic city girl. I loved their styles and couldn’t resist this jumpsuit! I’m pretty sure the tie on the front is supposed to be in the back, but I am kind of loving it up front as it cinches the waist a bit more – what do you guys think?
Wrapping things up, I definitely just want to encourage you guys to make a stop into Gathered Goods – whether it’s for a class or just to shop and say hi, it’s a wonderful atmosphere filled with so much joy and beautiful pieces.
Wishing you all a fabulous day – thanks for stopping by!
Xx, Jozy
