Let’s talk hair for a minute. Have you noticed anything different around here? Perhaps a little more volume, a brighter color and perhaps a whole lotta extra length? Well, if you’ve been curious about any of these things listed… I have answers, and simply put, that answer is Twigg’s Salon.
One of the things that I have always been known for is my hair. In high-school, I was voted “best-hair” yet I will admit that never “officially” received the recognition as I graduated early, but was told I had the senior-best by a landslide… oh high-school!
Being that my hair has always been one of my favorite assets (we’re allowed to talk about ourselves once in a while, right?!) I am extremely picky about who I let get near it, especially when it comes to color. I have been on quite the journey when it comes to my hair color, and if you didn’t already know, I am naturally a dark brunette. I used to laugh at myself back in middle-school when I would wear my blonde Hannah Montana wig just for fun, telling myself I could never be a blonde – yet here I am, living the “blonde-life.”
But let’s jump away from all that background info for a moment and dive into why you’re really reading this.
So about a month ago I was approached by Twigg’s Salon to come in for a free spa day, and immediately I was like, “heck-yes!” as what girl would turn down that?
After working with Twigg’s to create a customized plan that would suit my hair goals, we decided that we were going to brighten my blonde to achieve that Pinterest-worthy ashy blonde and add some length with hair extensions. Up until last fall, I had always had pretty long hair, so hair extensions had never really occurred to me as something I would want to try, but, I will say, I am now obsessed.
So before I dive into the makeover, let me just start off by saying that I have a TON of hair and getting my hair done has never been an in-and-out type of deal. It takes all day. I went into Twigg’s for my appointment at noon and didn’t leave until 6:15pm. But in that time-frame, my stylists, David & Nick, did some serious work.
We started with a full foil – which requires painting color onto thin strands, covering just about the entire head. Once the foil was completed, we did a full balayage to slightly darken my naturally dark roots so that the growth wouldn’t be as noticeable.
I was treated with top of the line products, including Olaplaex, to ensure that my hair would stay strong and moisturized throughout the process. And in order to keep myself sane throughout the long day, a complimentary glass of my favorite wine, Pinot Noir, was just what I needed to accompany me.
I normally get pretty antsy when I am sitting in one place for hours on end, but the staff at Twigg’s was very accommodating and kept me entertained throughout the entire process – they are so great!
Once my hair was all colored, washed, and ready-to-go, we began putting in the bonded hair extensions from Hair Dreams. Going in, I initially thought that putting in the extensions would be the longest pair of the process, but as it turns out, it was actually the fastest. In total, it took approximately 2 hours to get all of the extensions in and looking amazing. Which, that may sound like a lot for those of you who are used to short appointments, but considering the amount of hair that was added in that chunk of time – it’s pretty amazing!
As of now, I have had my hair extensions for about a week, and I have absolutely love them. At first I was worried that they would be such a hassle as one of my least favorite things in the world is getting ready (honestly, it’s the worst) – but to my surprise, having hair extensions has actually made the process of doing my hair so much easier as the extensions style much better than normal hair and also hold a style much longer as well.
When it came to hair extensions, I was pretty clueless. But during my appointment, I had plenty of time to ask my stylists their best tips and tricks for adjusting to the extra length, and one of the most important things they told me was to constantly brush them (about 3x/day) and keep the bonds clean, which really, is nothing out of the ordinary.
If you’re considering hair extensions, or are just looking for an amazing new color, I HIGHLY recommend Twigg’s Salon in Wayzata. I have been wanting to achieve this ashy blonde color for so long and up until my visit to Twiggs, no one had ever quite gotten it right. Needless to say, I am so extremely happy with the results from my visit to Twiggs salon and would genuinely recommend them to each and every one of you!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
xx, Jozy
