I feel like it’s been a moment since the last time I shared a simple “outfit” post with styling tips and trends I’m crushing on and with all the adorable styles this season, I can’t wait to jump back into sharing my style tid-bits on some of the cutest outfits from a recent collaboration!
Over the weekend I was back home in North Dakota for the Easter holiday and had the opportunity to collaborate with one of my all time favorite boutiques, Curious Clothing, and shoot with Jordan from My Wanderlust, an extremely talented photographer (exciting stuff!), to capture some adorable Spring styles – I can’t wait to show you!
But before I jump into all the ins and outs of styling, here’s a fun little fact for you guys, I actually used to work at Curious during my senior year of high school and freshman year of college! At the time, back in 2014/2015 Grand Forks was growing and boutiques were beginning to pop up here and there and with my ‘passion for fashion’ I had so much desire to work in one of these beautiful new boutiques. One afternoon, I stopped in to Curious, shortly after they’d had their grand opening, introduced myself, and soon enough had an interview and before I knew it, one of my first “big” jobs! I swear I never made a dollar working there because all of my paychecks went right back into the clothes I was buying from the store, but when they’re this dang cute, can you really blame me?!
Jumping into things, I’ve broken up each style into its own little category in order to really show off what makes each piece unique. Get ready to fall in love with these styles… I couldn’t resist!
1.Button Up Blouses: Not going to lie, I took a major break from button up blouses after the whole flannel phase back in middle school. I have no idea why, but over the years I’ve consistently steered clear of button up tops, claiming that they look horrible on me as I was trying to rid out the remnants of my awkward middle school years (we can all relate on this, right?)
But more recently, I’ve been seeing button up blouses more and more and I’ve once again started slipping a few button ups into my everyday style, and as it turns out, I’m back on the trend. This gorgeous floral blouse has me craving spring. Not only is this just too cute paired with this light grey skirt, it would look so great with white skinny jeans and a cute pair of wedges for a brunch date or afternoon errands.
2. Ruffle Details: I touched on ruffles in a recent post sharing my top 5 favorite spring trends, but truth me told, I can not get enough of this girly style – especially this dress! When I walked into Curious for my stylist fitting, I was immediately pulled towards this dress hanging on the rack and I said “I need this!” Turns out, they’d already pulled the dress in my size, styled it, and had it waiting for me – talk about knowing my style!
The thing I love about this dress however, is that while it is absolutely gorgeous on it’s own, you have the ability to make this girly dress a little edgy too, by adding a black leather jacket and strappy ankle heels or taking it more casual by pairing it with a denim jacket and flat camel sandals.
3. Cropped Jeans + Off the Shoulder
Once again, they’re back, and I’m not just talking about the 70’s inspired jeans. Off the shoulder tops have been on-trend season after season, which is giving me the feeling that perhaps they may be here to stay for a while – I’m in favor.
The #1 thing that I love most about this outfit is that I don’t think I would have ever tried on these jeans if I’d seen them on the rack out of the assumption that they’d look awful. But you know what? I LOVE them. When shopping for jeans, I am a huge fan of high-waist rises and these cute 70’s inspired crops are so fun for Spring & Summer. Paired with this sweet and girly off the shoulder top, as well as all the accessories, it’s the perfect look for cool summer afternoons spent grabbing coffee with friends and scoping out all you favorite local boutiques.
4. Lace
Where do I even begin with this stunning lace top, I am actually obsessed, as this was the very first item to catch my eye in the window as I was approaching Curious. Lately I’ve been on a rather edgy kick with my blazers & ripped jeans, but I’ve always had and always will, have a special spot for romantic styles in my wardrobe.
This lace top is the perfect mix-in piece for my wardrobe at the moment because as I am looking to get rid of a TON of stuff (let me know if you’re interested btw) I am slowly adding in more pieces that better suit my style and can be worn in a number of ways. Worn alone, this top is stunning, but paired with some denim, a black leather jacket and cute kicks, this romantic style is a whole new edgy look that’s perfect for grabbing drinks or a night out. I love how it’s been paired with the floral bottoms for a completely girly look that’s also very chic. Another option for styling this pretty top is by simply throwing it on over some denim, adding a statement earring and nude wedges for the perfect day-time style.
5. Plaid Blazers
Ah yes, the ‘seen everywhere’ plaid blazer is still here, and I sure hope it’s going to stay. All winter long I’d been seeing this blazer everywhere, to the point where it was practically taunting me. Finally after wearing this city chic look, styled by Curious, and adding the blazer to my online cart one-too-many times, I caved in to my temptation to buy this blazer. I couldn’t help it! But here’s why…
Blazers are a classic piece that have been around forever. Sure they’ve had their “renovations” so to speak, but they’ve never really gone away. They’re chic, timeless and add a little bit of professional edge to an otherwise plain outfit such as a graphic tee and jeans, which is one of my favorite ways to style a blazer. In this look, the blazer has been thrown on over a long Spring style sweater, white denim and classic black heels. Another way to rock a blazer is by throwing it on over a cute skirt with some booties and the right accessories, or, by wearing it draped over your shoulders allowing your arms to hang loose, sleeve free – a style that’s very edgy yet shows that you’ve got style.
I can’t even begin to tell you how much I love each and every one of these styles… the list of reasons goes above and beyond. BUT, luckily for you all, you can get 10% off all of these amazing styles and more at Curious Clothing by using the code: jozy10 at checkout! It’s good until tomorrow (4/3) so don’t wait..
