Man oh man has it been cold out there lately! I don’t know about you, but after what feels like a month of negative temps, this 20-30 degree weather is starting to feel like Spring.
Even though it’s only mid-January, I’ve already go Spring on my mind and am ready to start pulling out the pretty hues of the season with pastels and simple statements of color pops, textures and patterns.
This skirt from Target is a step in the right direction. I actually purchased this item in the Fall, but with the touch of lavender it can be easily pulled into Spring by mixing with the right pieces.
While I’m usually all for black-on-black, Spring tends to be the time of year where I start to push myself towards adding more color into my daily wear. For instance, by simply pairing this pattern skirt with a subtle lavender sweater, it automatically makes the look appeal more for Spring versus opting for an all black top – which I am guilty of doing far too often – which would then make the look more suitable for the fall/winter months.
If you don’t already own a pair of black thigh high boots, I highly recommend you find yourself a pair… right now! I know they may look intimidating at first glance, trust me I told myself I could never wear them at first too, but now they are some of my favorite shoes for all occasions, including travel. Wearing thigh-highs allows you to skip out on the extra layer of leggings or tights beneath your skirts and dresses by showing off just a little bit of skin, but not enough to make you look crazy in our Minnesota winters.
Unfortunately most of the exact items featured in this post are no longer available, however, I am linked several options that are super similar to get you well on your way to dressing for Spring, and buying those thigh-highs!
