Tis the season for a few of my favorite things; cute booties, pumpkin goodies, and stylish fall threads. Fall is by far my preferred season of all for more reasons than one. It’s crisp cool air gives me every excuse to buy the PSL one too many times, spurge on the soft sweater I’ve been drooling over for days and a reason to explore an apple orchard with my guy. Oh fall, you’re just too good.
Yet as we mid-westerners know, this splendid season doesn’t last long which is why I’m telling you NOW is the time to treat yourself to some cute fall pieces or toss a new flair onto something you’ve already got.
Let’s talk about this corduroy skirt. First of all, I will admit that I am notorious for buying things, wearing them once, and forgetting about them. I know, I know, bad habit… but I’m here to tell you it’s getting better by the day as I’ve started playing around with old pieces and finding a new-found love for my past seasons splurges.
I purchased this corduroy skirt last fall and up until now it had spent way too much time pushed into the back of a dresser drawer simply because I had yet to find it’s potential. I’ve spent a lot of time scrolling through pinterest and flipping through magazines and in doing so found the inspiration I was looking for to bring life to this piece.
Perhaps contrary to popular belief, corduroy is most definitely back and paired with an edgy texture, such as leather, twists a whole new sleek and chic style onto the piece. This look, combines all sorts of textures and different styles into one cohesive style that is perfectly suited for a night out in fall. The “sweetheart” skirt, as I’m calling it, adds a feminine touch to the rockstar appeal of the black and leather. Together, this combo is everything you need for mixing fabulous “old” fashion into new and exciting styles that are up to par and street style ready.
