Prints are both fun and intimidating. I’ll admit, I love prints, but a majority of my closet is made up of solid hues and basic pieces that I know how to wear because let’s face it – prints can be hard to mix and match.
I bought this snake skin patterned dress well over two years ago and have worn it maybe once? I loved it from the start for its unique design and color scheme (plus hidden pockets!) but never found an occasion to wear it too.
Recently, a friend of mine had a GNO themed party and I decided what better opportunity to make use of this dress and pull out the prints for a night of fun.
Even though this dress doesn’t have any black in the color scheme, the knee high black boots tie in the navy and green and the matching leather jacket completes the style creating a chic night out style.
When wearing prints, the fabric is your statement piece. Try not to over do it with adding to many accessories. My advice for accessorizing is “less is more” meaning – simple + sleek = spot on.
Typically with higher necklines, I opt for earrings over necklaces. Here, I’m wearing my favorite silver statement studs and a mid length necklace for extra detail.
As I said before, prints can be tough to work with, but paired with the right accessories, it can be done.
Have a printed piece in your wardrobe you just can’t seem to match? If you’re seeking advice, send it my way & we’ll work some magic!
