Over the pond I go as I head off to London this afternoon! While I am currently full of mixed feelings and emotions about the venture abroad, homestay, classes and all, I am more than excited to be setting off and traveling – a pastime I have always loved dearly.
While waiting for my flight (that is continuously being delayed) I wanted to share with you all a classy look that is casual, sleek, and oh so chic! Sound familiar? It’s my favorite style 🙂
Traveling to Europe has had me in a mixing and matching state of mind lately as I purposely packed with a color scheme to suit each and every piece that was put into my suitcase. As a rule of thumb, I always say …
“If it can’t be worn more than three ways, it can’t go.”
This outfit, or should I say these two pieces, made the cut. I bought this white lace midi skirt from Curious Clothing (Grand Forks, ND) about two years ago now and I hate to admit that the last time I wore it was for high school graduation! Fortunately, I like to say that all pieces end up in my wardrobe for a reason, and this skirt is no exception.
I found a little love for this piece again when i dug it out of my closet and began playing around with different ways to pair it. Being that it is a midi skirt, I always tried to wear it more formally rather than casually, and that was my first mistake.
This piece truly is so versatile! Paired with a simple loose grey tee and denim jacket, this skirt is easily dressed down to a more casual style that would even be acceptable for a day at work. For those seeking a more elegant style, I always pair this skirt with a white crop top as the skirt line is rather high waisted, and dress it up further with simple jewelry.
As for accessories? Nude and gold are always my go to. Whether you’re wearing black, white, purple or green, nude is the perfect hue to naturally compliment any style (a great color for vacation packing too!)
Looking at this outfit, there really is nothing special about it. Sometimes a statement outfit comes from no where – just playing around in your closet and mixing simple pieces can end up making a statement. Therefor I challenge you, go through your wardrobe and pull 3 of your favorite pieces. Start mixing and matching with pieces you never thought you’s pair together and see where it takes you!
Happy styling!
