For the last five days I was lucky enough to escape the cold and venture off to the beautiful beaches of Riviera Maya, Mexico. Days were spent sipping cool margs, bathing in the warm sun and getting lost in the pages of a good book. It was five days of pure relaxation and bliss and I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way! Reflecting back on the trip, here’s a few of my favorite memories and looks from my quick little get-away – – enjoy!
I received so much feedback on this suit with question after question on where it is from. Well, question no more… I found this suit online at ASOS for $30! When it comes to suits, I’m your biggest bargain shopper as I loooooove to have several options to bring along with me on vacation, which is why I opt for quality suits at unbeatable prices, and this one here wins the prize for my all time favorite (minus the tan lines it left.)
Saturday, my mom and I wandered off to Playa Del Carmen for the afternoon which was just a short jaunt away from our resort back in Riviera Maya. If you’ve never been to PlayaCar, 5th Ave is the place to be for all things touristy and charming with over a mile long stretch of gift shops, boutiques, cafes, bars, restaurants and all the more hidden gems I’ve yet to discover off the beaten path. Here you’ll find the perfect souvenir for everyone on your list, perhaps stop for a quaint little breakfast like we did (which by the way was SO GOOD and only $16.95 total!!) and some of the best beachside margaritas. For this fun filled day I wanted to wear something light, comfy (no rubbing up on my sunburn please) and colorful which is why I turned to this fun dress from Lulu’s as it was the perfect sundress for a day spent in non-other than, well, the sun!
I’ve never considered myself to be much of a picky eater but when it comes to All Inclusive resort food I guess I tend to make some objections. While the main courses may not have been anything to drool over, at least the chips and salsa were bottomless!
Ahh yes, day 3 (ignore the crazy tan lines!) another laid back day spent soaking up the sun.
Pro Tip:ย Remember when I mentioned the importance of sunscreen in “Spring Break Essentials” ? Well, perhaps I should have mentioned not to forget your feet when applying! Totally oblivious to the strength of the sun down here in Mexico, I skipped my feet when applying sunscreen and never again will I do so… protect your feet just as much as the rest of your skin and don’t make the same mistake I did – – Whoops!
Last but not least, a good get away also calls for a good book. Before jet-setting off to the beach, I picked up the novel, “Come Back to Me.” Back home, I will admit I’m not much of a reader, I know I should be but…. I’m not. I always struggle opening up a book and really getting into it, finding it hard to really immerse myself in the story, but with this book, it came easy. A love story told through the eyesย of both the guy and the girl, this heartbreaking yet warming romance brought tears to my eyes. I highly recommend if you’re in need of a good read. (** Geared toward high school/college students)
Back in Minnesnowta the chills greeted me a little too quickly and I’m already craving another warm va-cay! Let’s hope that lovely spring weather decides to sneak up on us again here soon… Where did your spring break take you? Feel free to share, I’d love to hear your travel stories!
