A New Year has begun and with that it’s always fun to look back at the previous year and reflect on some of the greatest moments throughout the year. Here’s a quick little look back at a slice of what 2016 put on the plate.
January
Tis the season for New Years resolutions! Lately I’ve been busy with all things cheer, Gamma Phi, and school as a new semester has begun!
February
Mid month I took a weekend off to venture off to Canada where I was able to explore the magnificent skating trails of Winnipeg and check out the Human Rights Museum and celebrate a lovely valentines day at the cutest little riverside cafe.
March
In March, us cheerleaders traveled to Minneapolis for the Frozen Face-off where the hockey team did, well, not their best per usual in this tournament, but despite the loses, I had a blast cheering in the tournament alongside some of my best friends and the best fans.
April
A month of adventure, heartbreak, and change. April started out as any other month, keeping busy with work, school, sorority events, cheer, and relationships. In April, the hockey team made it into the Frozen Four, which just so happened to be in Tampa, FL! Luckily for us cheerleaders, we made the cut and boarded a plane for Tampa and cheered the guys on to win a National Championship!
May
Wrapping up with my final semester at UND was a whirlwind of stress with formals, finals and vacay-planning, but I am proud to say I finished my time at UND with a 4.0! Let the summer begin.
June
Hola, Mexico! By far the most insane trip of my entire life with crazy memories to last a lifetime. If you have the chance, I HIGHLY recommend a trip with your bff . . . and if you feel like it, invite your mama’s too, it’s fun – I promise 😉
July
It’s mid-summer and I’m beginning to wonder where the summer has gone! Weekends are spent at the lake, but more so at Billy’s Bar & Grill where I’ve been working as a waitress with some pretty cool co-workers . . . it’s been a great summer job! The fourth of July was a day to remember, spent out on the boat surrounded by good times and even better friends.
August
And that’s a wrap, Grand Forks, I’m off to the cities! August was a busy month finishing up jobs, saying good-byes and packing up for a new adventure . . . and us girls couldn’t quite take off for college without one last trip to Canada.
September
Recruitment is in full swing here at the U of M and it’s just as exciting as you’d imagine it to be! With nearly 1,000 girls going through recruitment, it’s been a pleasure to get to know so many amazing women throughout the process, and especially to welcome home our wonderful new pledge class – we love you guys!
October
Well, I’ve certainly begun to make myself right at home as I’ve been accepted into the School of Journalism to pursue my dream career of becoming a fashion journalist, landed a job as a store manager at a local boutique, and been chosen as a trends blogger for the campus blog TWIN – lots of exciting things are happening here at the U!
November
A busy bee I’ve become, as if one blog wasn’t enough, I’ve now accepted a blogging internship with CollegeFashionista for Spring 2017 and happily been elected as the COB chairwoman for Kappa Chapter of Gamma Phi Beta where I am honored to be able to plan a special and memorable spring recruitment for our lovely incoming new members. I was able to come home for the Thanksgiving holiday an re-unite with some of my dear friends & past teammates.
December
My first semester at the U is complete and I’m home at last! It’s been one crazy semester adjusting to a new city, making so many amazing new friends, and adapting to the norms of sorority life living in the house. It’s crazy to think back to a year ago and to reflect on how far I’ve really come, 2016 changed me in all sorts of ways, but in 2017, I hope to change and develop even further into the passionate and striving young woman I am.
